Problem
A steel plant's terrain and mixed office/production zones made reliable connectivity hard — single-ISP risk and weak segmentation threatened uptime and security.
Solution
Designed a hybrid fiber + PtP wireless backbone with office/production VLANs, Cisco ASA perimeter, dual-ISP failover, VPN, and bandwidth policy for critical traffic.
Highlights
- Hybrid backbone: fiber optic links + PtP wireless AP bridges
- Two network segments for office and production environments
- VPN setup for secure remote and inter-site access
- Bandwidth management for critical business and production traffic
- Cisco ASA perimeter security implementation
- Dual ISP design: primary connection + backup/failover path
Outcomes
- Reach extended across complex plant terrain
- Internet continuity during ISP disruption via failover
- Clearer security boundary between office and production
Impact
Delivered a more reliable and maintainable network foundation for steel manufacturing operations — improving connectivity reach, traffic control, remote access security, and internet continuity during ISP disruption.
